Akureyri Art Museum

This ambitious museum (listak.is; adult/child 2200kr/free) is by far the best art museum outside of Reykjavík, with a frequently changing array of exhibits and four floors showcasing classic and contemporary art, from photography to performance pieces and Icelandic to international. There are guided tours in English every Thursday at 12.30pm. The onsite cafe, Ketilkaffi , makes a good spot for a break.
