Olympiastadion

A scenic view of Olympiapark in Munich with lush green lawns and the distinctive Olympic Stadium in the background.

With its contorted steel and plexiglass tent roof, the Olympiastadion was the centerpiece for the Munich Olympics and remains an instantly recognizable structure, especially for football fans – Bayern Munich played here until 2006 and West Germany famously won the 1974 FIFA World Cup on this hallowed turf. Still a phenomenal stadium today, it must have seemed like the work of alien beings in 1972. Daredevil tours of the roof run daily and the stadium is still regularly used for sports and live music events.
