Moravian Museum

The Moravian Museum's (mzm.cz) repository of six million natural history, archaeology and ethnography artifacts housed in the reconstructed 1616 Dietrichstein Palace is the country's second-largest museum and Moravia's oldest. Collections span the Paleolithic era to the Middle Ages, and despite the lack of English text, come here for the museum's prized exhibit: the 30,000-year-old Venus of Dolní Věstonice – the oldest ceramic figurine in the world found during an excavation in the South Moravian village in 1925. In the courtyard next to the museum is the Bishop's Court, housing a small aquarium and info on Moravian wildlife.
