Built in 1488, the A-Ma Temple is one of the oldest temples in Macau, predating the colony. A-Ma, also known as Mazu or Tin Hau, is the goddess of the sea, and it was here that Macau fisherfolk once came to pray for fair weather. The temple comprises six main parts: the Gate Pavilion, Memorial Arch, Prayer Hall, Hall of Benevolence, Hall of Guanyin and Zhengjiao Chanlin. In the main Prayer Hall, saffron-hued coils of incense fill the room with sweet smoke. Don't miss the spectacular views from the uppermost pavilion.
