About Mariana
Mariana Mijares is a Mexico City–based journalist whose love for travel began in childhood, inspired by frequent visits to her grandparents' home, filled with photographs from all over the world. Over the years, her curiosity has taken her from the ski slopes of California, Utah, and Colorado to wellness retreats in Canada, and from savoring incredible local food in Portland to discovering hidden gems in the small towns of Riviera Nayarit and Punta Mita (where she loves to bring along Zoe, her little dachshund).
She specializes in stories that highlight gastronomy, hotels, wellness, outdoor adventures, and cultural experiences. Mariana also covers major film festivals (including Sundance, SXSW in Austin, TIFF, and Tribeca), blending her love of cinema with her passion for storytelling.
She has contributed to publications such as Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, National Geographic, Reforma, Time Out, Milenio, Volaris, and Viva Aerobus.
Currently living as a digital nomad, she spends her time chasing great stories (and unforgettable sunsets) across North America (but she dreams of exploring New Zealand and Australia).
