Manchester Unity Building

The Manchester Unity Building on the left and Melbourne City Town Hall tower on the right. Melbourne, Australia.

Built in 1932, this honey-colored art-deco skyscraper brings a slice of Chicago (or possibly Gotham City) to Swanston St. It's worth popping into the foyer to admire the mosaic floor, brass lifts and relief sculpture of heroic workers edging the ceiling. There's a cafe open Monday to Saturday, and building tours are paired with breakfast or lunch, running monthly on Sunday.
