Usually less windswept, though often no less crowded, than St Kilda Beach, it's surrounded by leafy Elwood Park and Point Ormond Reserve. There are playgrounds and kiosks. Take bus 606 or 923 from St Kilda at the corner of Barkly and Carlisle Sts.
