Manisha Koirala’s regular treks and travels around Nepal in recent times made her understand why her grandpa said: “Nepal is heaven on Earth”.

Here she lists her top lifetime experiences in Nepal.

Animal Kingdom

The quiet beauty of Chitwan is best enjoyed in the company of Nepal’s animal family. The first sighting of a rhino, crocodiles, an elephant, or the elusive tiger is truly heart-stopping to be cherished. The entire Terai region’s splendour with its rivers, hills, and unpolluted jungles gets you as close to nature as it can be.

Slow Travel

Travel to Pokhara to take in the brilliant panoramic views from Phewa Lake. The vista of the pristine mountain backdrop and the tranquil ambience lets you relax with good weather, good music and gives meaning to the slow travel movement.

The Moment with the Mountains

For sheer daring and adventure, the flight to Lukla tops it enroute to reaching the Everest Base camp. It’s exciting and belly flipping to watch the flight fly between mountains. The place is the best spot to have your moment with the mighty mountains, the crisp mountain air, and the beauty of the undulating hills and slopes around you. Unwind on walks down the charming cobbled streets, dotted with nice cafes and aromatic bakeries. Shop for crafts and jewels at the Tibetan stores if you’re inclined to.

Sherpa food

The spine of Nepal are the friendly Sherpas. Their soul food of lights soups, momos, and steamed vegetables are healthy and healing. A meal in their company sharing mountain adventure stories is an immersive experience.

It’s hard not to miss the rich heritage of Nepal’s temples. Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur among others are their wooden and metal architectural features that give them a unique beauty.

The experience of the quiet with the mountains, listening in silence to Nature, is none like other you will find in Nepal.

You will find a very tourist hospitable people in Nepal. It’s important that as responsible travellers we do not leave any negative traces behind. We need to respect our surroundings.
