A cute and colorful vacation village with a difference has opened in the Florida Keys that sees guests staying in tiny, eye-catching houses, each with their own personalities. Surrounded by ocean vistas, the idiosyncratic homes offer a unique experience to travelers looking for something a bit different.

Located on Ohio Key at the Sunshine Key RV Resort, Sunshine Key Tiny House Village is 30 miles from Key West and a few minutes away from Bahia Honda State Park. There are five distinct tiny houses to choose from, such as the aqua coloured Kai ($250 per night) that sleeps up to three people, has a lofted queen bed and a picnic table, the bright yellow Lucy ($300 per night), which sleeps up to six people and has beautiful ocean views framed by porthole windows, and the Hemingway ($275 per night) which sleeps four and has its own dedicated tiny terrace.

“Glamping and tiny houses have been quite trendy over the past few years, and Sunshine Key Tiny House Village provides the opportunity to experience both. The uniqueness of this village is not only the beachside location with stunning ocean views but also the individual personality that comes with each Petite Retreat tiny house. Each house has its own backstory, theme and interior design inspired by the beauty and history of the Florida Keys, which makes each tiny house a unique experience,” Randy “Boomer” Berman of Petite Retreats told Lonely Planet.

According to the company, the site is a good location for visitors to gain access to a wide range of recreational places and activities such as Sunshine Key beach, the marina, fishing, swimming pools, fitness centres and games like volleyball, basketball, horseshoes and tennis. Visitors can also choose to make use of the RV Resort with their vehicles instead of renting a tiny house.
