Welcome to St Lawrence River Shore
Summer on the western shores of the Lawrence River, which separate New York state from Canada, sees thousands flock to the smattering of small waterfront towns that cater to all kinds of fun in the water. Alexandria Bay (A-Bay or Alex Bay), Clayton and Cape Vincent are the best places to hunker down to experience some of the sunny frivolity. They are all a bit rundown and tacky, but fun, nonetheless, and if you need a break you can always explore the region's wineries and distilleries, or some of the many islands from which the region gets its name. There is incredible nature and unique sights like a castle to discover. Be aware, though, that in winter things more or less close down.
