Buddy Holly Center

Top choice museum in Lubbock

Fronted by a huge sculpture of Holly's hallmark horn-rims, the Buddy Holly Center holds a small but definitive museum celebrating the man himself. His career is explored in detail – Bob Dylan, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, all seen on film, hail his influence – while oddments on display include everything from his Fender Stratocaster and stage clothes to his childhood drawings and tableware. Most poignant of all are his actual glasses, recovered from the site of his fatal air crash.

The center also houses a fine-arts gallery, a gift shop, and the Texas Musicians Hall of Fame, which features ever-changing exhibitions on the music and musicians of Texas.
