Just 5 miles north of Muir Beach, wide, blond Stinson Beach is positively buzzing on warm weekends. The town flanks Hwy 1 for about three blocks and is speckled with a few shops, a small handful of eateries and lots of vacation rentals. The beach is often blanketed with fog, but when the sun’s shining it’s filled with surfers, families and gawkers. There are views of Point Reyes and San Francisco on clear days, and the beach is long enough for an invigorating stroll.
