Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Center

On Phra Maha Mandop’s second floor, the Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Center (100฿) details the birth and evolution of the neighborhood, right up to the present day. The museum depicts what life was like for Chinese immigrants arriving to the capital in the late 18th century before branching out into the community’s assimilation into the Thai populace. Today, 15% of Thailand’s population is descended from Chinese immigrants, making it the world’s biggest overseas Chinese community.
