At 7.5km long, spectacular Skyrail is one of the world’s longest gondola cableways, offering a bird’s-eye view over the ancient rainforest between Cairns and Kuranda. Allow about 90 minutes for the one-way trip, including two stops en route, featuring jungly boardwalks with interpretive panels and lookouts – including new glass-floor perch the Edge – over the mighty Barron Falls.
Upgrade to a glass-floored "diamond view" gondola (one-way is an extra $20/10), or – for full-on adventure seekers – book the amazing, open-air Canopy Glider (an extra $110 per person; age restrictions apply).
The last departures from Cairns and Kuranda are at 2.45pm for a return journey and 3.30pm for one-way; transfers to and from the terminals are available.
Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Railway offer combination tickets (adult/child from $114.50/57.25).
