Entrance to the Medieval Crime Museum or Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum in Rothenburg ob der Tauber old town in Bavaria, Germany.

The Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum (kriminalmuseum.eu; adult/concession/child €9.50/6.50/5) is Europe’s largest museum dedicated to medieval crime and punishment. The star attractions at this gruesomely fascinating museum are medieval implements of torture and punishment. Exhibits include chastity belts, masks of disgrace for gossips, a cage for cheating bakers, a neck brace for quarrelsome women and a beer-barrel pen for drunks. You can even snap a selfie in the stocks. The museum has 50,000 exhibits making it the biggest of its kind in Europe.
