Mercado de Colón

The magnificent, airy Mercado de Colón, now colonised by cafes and boutique food outlets, was inaugurated in 1916 as a market to serve the rising bourgeoisie of the new L’Eixample suburb. Its handsome metal skeleton is garnished with Modernista flourishes to create a stunning ensemble. It's a good place to eat or drink and a fine refuge for families, as kids can run around and there's all-day food.
