East of Fort train station, Manning Market is the city's fragrant – in good ways and bad – wholesale fruit and veg market. A new market is under construction outside the center at Peliyagoda, but for now, the old market is piled high with towers of papayas, mountains of watermelons and whole stalks of bananas.
