Listasavn Føroya

Get to know the Faroes’ art scene at the national gallery Listasavn Føroya (art.fo; adult/child 90kr/free) . Housed in a bright space, the permanent collection of Faroese art spans from 1830 to the present day. Among the works are several paintings of brooding seascapes and poignant scenes from village life by renowned artist SJ Mikines. Check out Edward Fuglø’s striking painting Colony and the sculpture Whale-War , which explores the debate around grindadrap (whaling in the Faroe Islands). A mesmerising mirrored room, The Deep Blue by Trondur Patursson is perfect for selfies. The gallery also puts on temporary exhibitions.
