A modernist architectural triumph on the banks of the IJ (also pronounced "eye") River, the EYE film museum peers over the city. Its permanent exhibition, What is Film?, lets you see how the earliest cameras worked, insert yourself into a film using greenscreen technology, or make your own animated movie. There are in-depth temporary exhibitions. Vintage classics to current blockbusters and kids' films screen at its four cinemas. The view-tastic EYE bar/restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows and a fabulously sunny riverside terrace.
