Just east of the park, this busy gyratory is flanked by an impressive collection of colonial-period buildings. The Cinnamon Gardens Baptist Church dates to 1877, and it backs onto the Cinnamon Gardens Post Office (from 1905) and the Dewata-Gaha Mosque, a rambling structure built in 1820. Across the road to the northeast is the former Victoria Memorial Eye Hospital, a strikingly striped brick structure with strong similarities to Kuala Lumpur's Jamek Mosque.
