Priego's austere medieval castle, complete with square towers and forbidding ramparts, proudly overlooks Plaza Abad Palomino in the Barrio de la Villa. Originally an Islamic fortress, it was thoroughly remodelled by the town's Christian overlords between the 13th and 15th centuries. You can climb to the top of the keep (Torre del Homenaje) for aerial views of the white town spread beneath you.
