Amami-no-Sato

Though most displays are in Japanese, there's enough multimedia here to make this cultural and natural-history museum engaging, even for non-Japanese speakers. Musical exhibits, short films documenting island customs, colourful dioramas and an art museum showcasing the work of Tanaka Isson, famed for his paintings of local flora and bird life, bring Amami traditions to life.
