African American Museum of Dallas

The African American Museum (aamdallas.org), which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024, has some outstanding exhibitions, including one of the largest African American folk art collections in the US. Don’t miss the insightful displays on Freedman’s Town, once a thriving Black community from the 1870s to 1930s. The thoughtfully designed building incorporates Christian, Islamic and traditional West African motifs.
