This highly recommended outfitter will get you out on the water in a hurry with kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, which you can put in the water just across from its office. The small mangrove-lined bay (known as Lamar Lake) has manatees, and makes for a great start to the paddle before you venture further out.
One of the highlights is partaking in one of VKOC's guided sunset and full moon paddles, which happen several times a month.
You can also rent mountain bikes for the nearby Virginia Key North Point Trails.
