Tak-i Zargaron

From Tak-i Zargaron , continue east to the refreshingly unrestored, blue-tiled Ulugbek Medressa (20,000som) , one of three built by Ulugbek and erected in 1417, making it Central Asia’s oldest. The small museum inside has some great old photos, including one of the Kalon Minaret with a chunk blown out of it after the Soviets bombed it in the 1920s. At its height, Bukhara boasted more than 100 medressas (with 10,000 students) and more than 300 mosques.
