UNESCO-listed, the 40m-high, fossil-studded chalk cliffs of Stevns Klint are not only a beautiful place to walk along the clifftop, but they also present some of the best geological evidence for the asteroid-strike dinosaur extinction theory. The best way to see this rare stratification is to climb down the steep 110 steps beside the perilously perched old church in Højerup village. You'll be able to examine a thin layer of "fish clay" that marks the asteroid strike thought to have taken out the dinosaurs.
Fossil collectors make regular finds amid the limestone debris on the beach, and you're free to take them home – but chiseling at the cliffs themselves is forbidden.
