Spice Souq

Disembark at Deira Old Souq abra station and you’ll find yourself in front of the Spice Souq. Smaller than it once was, this pungent market is made up of narrow alleyways lined with stalls selling saffron, frankincense, cardamom, cinnamon, rose petals and other herbs and spices typically used in the Middle East, stored in colorful rows of burlap sacks. Shopping here makes for a great photo opportunity and friendly traders will invite you to taste, try and smell. Further into the warren-like souq, the market becomes Deira Old Souq, with a variety of groceries and kitchen utensils on sale. If you go this far, turn back, as there’s nothing else of interest to be found. The Spice Souq is open from 10am to 10pm daily, except Fridays when it's open from 4pm to 10pm.
