Sizergh Castle

Three-and-a-half miles south of Kendal along the A591, this National Trust–owned castle is the feudal seat of the Strickland family. Set around a pele tower, it's worth visiting for its 650-hectare estate encompassing lakes, orchards, woods and pasture.
