About 13 miles north of Albuquerque, this pueblo was established around 1300 AD. Thanks to the wealth it has generated from Sandia Casino, it has successfully lobbied to prevent further development of Sandia Crest, which its people have long held sacred. The casino's outdoor amphitheater is one of Albuquerque's major music venues.
