RKK Memorial Museum

Just south of central Alappuzha's (Alleppey's) North Canal, RKK Memorial Museum (rkkmuseum.com; ₹500) houses the impressive private collection amassed by much-honored local businessman Revi Karuna Karan. A grand building fronted by Greco-Roman columns (closed Monday), it was opened in memory of the late Alleppey-born personality by his wife Betty Karan. Wander through galleries bursting with extremely fine art and antiques from across India, as well as elsewhere in Asia and Europe – ceramics, porcelain, furniture. Don't miss the original antique Thanjavur paintings or the hundreds of beautiful Swarovski crystal animals and flowers.
