Just south of Avenida Javier Mina and the Mercado San Juan de Dios, this is the very birthplace of mariachi music. Once a place to enjoy lively bands from outdoor cafes, today it's a down-and-out plaza, flanked by old buildings and closed businesses. In the evenings, though, you'll find mariachi musicians in full regalia await gainful employment from passing cars, hiring for house parties.
