Around 3km south of downtown is the beautiful condo enclave of Playa Conchas Chinas. It's a tiny cove favored by families for the shallow and sheltered pools created by the burly rock reef further out (that's where the snorkelers and spearfishers have fun). Although the cove is small, the beach is blond and reasonably wide, with lifeguards on duty.
