Palomar Mountain State Park

The road to the ridgetop Palomar Observatory winds through coniferous Palomar Mountain State Park which has a campground and some great hikes with panoramic views out to the ocean and the desert. The one to Boucher Hill is especially rewarding. The park remains cool all year round, due to its lofty 5000ft elevation. Wildflowers bloom in early summer.
