The vast beaux arts Palacio Libertad (palaciolibertad.gob.ar), formerly known as the Centro Cultural Kirchner, is Latin America's most important cultural center. Inaugurated in 2015, the building had previously housed the central post office since 1928. The magnificent restoration has managed to keep the spirit of the old building while incorporating six auditoriums and an immersive hall.

The night tour (which starts at 7pm and lasts 80 minutes) is a good opportunity to learn the history of the building and get panoramic views of the city from its dome. The enthusiastic guide explains every detail of the mailbox room, original floors, old post office counters and the inkwells that were used to write and send letters. He also talks about the construction of modern facilities, such as the National Auditorium, which the locals nickname "the whale" because it is shaped like that great animal. The guided tour ends on the ninth floor of the building, on the large terrace next to the dome. This outdoor terrace wraps around the base of the dome and offers panoramic views of the city.
