With its jaunty towers and turrets, crenellated walls and arched walkways, the Oberbaumbrücke (1896) gets our nod for being Berlin’s prettiest bridge. Linking Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain across the Spree, it smoothly integrates a steel center span by Spanish bridgemeister Santiago Calatrava. Suspended below the elevated railway bridge, Thomas Goldberg's neon installation Rock, Paper, Scissors is a popular shutterbug motif.
Added bonus: great sunsets over the city center with the TV Tower and a nice view upriver where you'll spot, in the distance, the giant aluminum sculpture called Molecule Man by American artist Jonathan Borofsky. In summer, street musicians and artists often turn the bridge into an impromptu party zone.
