The Naturhistoriska Museet (Natural History Museum; gnm.se) is home to an incredible range of taxidermy, from the ungulates of the savannah to the big cats, the extinct Stellers sea cow, all manner of birds and pickled creatures of the deep. A definite highlight is the world’s only stuffed blue whale (visitors used to be able to walk into the belly until an amorous couple was caught in flagrante). As far as local wildlife is concerned, there are plenty of glass-eyed deer, elk, sea birds and inhabitants of the deep to acquaint yourself with.
