Holding the Northern Hemisphere's largest collection of African art, this peaceful gallery sits at the entrance of the Enid A Haupt Garden. Wander through the pavilion before descending into the cool, thoughtful levels below, often exploding with color, especially in the modern exhibits. A mix of ancient and modern sub-Saharan and North African art is on display – wooden masks, beaded textiles, ceramics, fetish dolls and regional visual traditions.
Guided tours are available by request, which should be made at least four weeks in advance. An underground tunnel connects to the National Museum of Asian Art and the Discovery Theater.
