Pablo Picasso is the key protagonist and represented with works from all his major creative phases. In an extension building, it's off to Paul Klee's poetic world, Henri Matisse's paper cut-outs and Alberto Giacometti's elongated sculptures.
Standouts by Picasso include the Seated Harlequin from the early rose period, bold cubist still lifes from the 1920s and Berggruen's favorite, The Yellow Sweater. The domed neoclassical building that houses the Picassos started life as a Prussian officers' casino, while the extension served as the commander's quarter.
