Lucy the Elephant

This six-story wooden pachyderm was constructed in 1881 as a land developer's weird scheme to attract customers. It's in Margate (just south of AC), and you can climb up inside on a guided tour (on the half-hour).

Factoid: Lucy makes a brief appearance in the Jack Nicholson cult classic King of Marvin Gardens. Like the movie's other characters, she is in great disrepair.
