Part of the Kulturforum, this museum owns one of the world’s largest and finest collections of art on paper and puts on fantastic exhibits starring masterpieces by such artists as Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti and Gerhard Richter. Works range from hand-illustrated books and illuminated manuscripts to drawings and prints and were produced mostly in Europe from the 14th century onward.
Among its most prized possessions are Sandro Botticelli’s illustrations for Dante’s Divine Comedy. Alas, these fragile works don’t do well under light, which is why only a tiny fraction of the collection is shown at a time.
