The austere white structures and gently rolling hillside of the Kranji War Memorial (cwgc.org) honor thousands of Allied servicemen from the British Commonwealth who fell during WWII. As you wander the serene grounds, you'll notice many headstones simply inscribed with the words "a soldier of the 1939–1945 war" lined in quiet, dignified rows across manicured lawns. Marble walls bear the names of over 24,000 men and women who lost their lives in Southeast Asia; visitors can consult registers to trace them. Each year, a poignant memorial service takes place on the Sunday nearest 11 November, Remembrance Day.
There is no wheelchair access.
