Kaudulla National Park

Like Minneriya, Kaudulla National Park offers a fabulous chance to view elephants on a jeep safari. In October, up to 250 elephants congregate on the green shores of the park's reservoir, alongside leopards, fishing cats, sambar deer, jackals and sloth bears. The best time to see elephants is from October to December, when you can often spot adorable baby elephants sticking close to mothers, while boisterous juveniles play in waterholes.

This park stands on the fringe of the ancient Kaudulla Wewa, 6km off the Habarana–Trincomalee road at Gal Oya junction. It is part of a 66.6-sq-km elephant corridor between Somawathiya National Park and Minneriya National Park.
