Jesuitenkirche

Rising above an attractive square just east of Universitätsplatz, the red-sandstone Jesuits’ church, with an all-white interior, is a fine example of 18th-century baroque. In contrast to many other churches in Europe, Heidelberg's baroque Jesuitenkirche (heidelberg-neckartal.de) has a unique interior – decked out in a striking bright white that is both elegant and cheerful. The ceiling is encrusted with glittering gold and crystal chandeliers as well as a large, mesmerizing crystal cross dangling above. The Schatzkammer (treasury) displays precious religious artifacts. Look out for regular concerts.
