Highlighting Mexico’s plant diversity, this 4-hectare garden complex in Chapultepec is a visual feast of Mexico's incredible botanical heritage. As you step into this living museum, you'll traverse areas that mirror Mexico's extraordinary range of climatic zones - from arid desert landscapes thick with ample varieties of cacti to lush tropical environments overflowing with vibrant vegetation. There's also a wonderful greenhouse full of rare orchids, and straw creepy-crawly statues that kids might enjoy.
The botanical gardens comprise over 21,000 plant species representing an astounding 10-12% of the world's flora. The Jardín underwent a major revamp in 2018, bringing a new garden highlighting Mexico's chilies, and a grasshopper space stocked with plants that they love. The garden includes a section dedicated to aquatic and semi-aquatic plants, complete with a pond, and an area devoted to edible plants with a display of edible seeds.
The nearest Chapultepec entrance to the garden is across from Museo Tamayo.
