Officially known as Helsingin päärautatieasema (Swedish: Helsingfors centralstation), Helsinki's landmark central train station opened in 1919. It's linked to the metro (Rautatientori stop) and situated 500m east of Kamppi Bus Station.
Designed by Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen (1873–1950), the National Romantic art-nouveau building is one of the world's most beautiful railway stations, with a granite facade, clock tower, copper roofing and twin pairs of statues holding spherical lamps that are illuminated when it's dark. Some 200,000 passengers per day make it Finland's most-visited building.
