Gyeongju Tower

About 5km east of central Gyeongju, the tourist district around the artificial Bomun lake offers a host of diversions. Besides walking, pedalling, paddling and splashing around at the water park, there are fun rides at Gyeongju World (gjw.co.kr; adult/teenager/child ₩36,000/32,000/27,000) amusement park, art at Wooyang Museum of Contemporary Art (en.wooyangmuseum.org; adult/student/child ₩15,000/12,000/10,000 ) and the massive Gyeongju World Culture Expo Park ( adult/child ₩12,000/10,000 ). The latter features the 2km narrated Lumina Night Walk , circuiting through illuminated Hwarang forest, and an elevator ride up 82m-high Gyeongju Tower , built to contain a cutout of the ancient Hwangnyong-sa temple’s nine-story pagoda.
