Gedenkort Weisse Kreuze

During the Cold War the southern Spree bank behind the Reichstag belonged to West Berlin, while the river itself was East Berlin territory. In 1971 a private initiative of West German citizens placed seven white crosses here in memory of those who lost their lives at the Wall.
