The prince-bishops lived it up at the baroque Residenz, built between 1725 and 1736 by Gabriel de Gabrieli. Inside, the stunning main staircase and a hall of mirrors stick in the mind. In the square outside rises a late 18th-century golden statue of the Madonna atop a 19m-high column.
