Fredrikstad Museum

The Fredrikstad Museum is housed in a building dating back to 1775. Downstairs is largely devoted to the excellent, modern exhibition "Østfold at War 1939-45 Operation Polar Bear" (in Norwegian; ask for the English-language leaflet), while upstairs you'll find scale models of the old town and an interesting collection of relics from three centuries of Fredrikstad's civilian, military and industrial activities, as well as a children's area with a drawing table and "Time Machine."
