Named after the Civil Rights Movement leaders at the front of the "wade-in" protests to desegregate South Florida beaches in the 1950s and '60s, this is now a popular kayaking spot. The dense mangrove-lined route meanders 1.5 miles through the park, and is shallow and calm. There's also 2.5 miles of undisturbed beach to enjoy. The northern end has the Port Everglades inlet, past which cruise ships and yachts sail, and the southern end houses the Dania Beach fishing pier.
The park also offers good offshore snorkeling and diving, and is an important turtle nesting area. The Whiskey Creek Hideout (https://whiskeycreekhideout.com) at the north end of the park provides kayak and canoe rentals ($20 per hour).
